Korea, Burlam takes vertical street to a higher level
Burlam deconstructs the generic apartment block into terraced houses with views of the mountains. In this way, almost every resident has a front door onto the street and a garden facing the shared courtyard, a familiar element of the traditional Korean house. The low forms transition in scale between the existing village and urban context with a striking stepped roofscape that reflects the surroundings.
