Soft opening Floram

FLORAM is MKA’s living laboratory in Portugal, where all the lessons learned from Superlofts, MaMa pioneers, and sustainable pioneering projects are combined to create this sustainable community of the future. We have purchased both agricultural and urban land, regenerating the village of Porto Brandão while also connecting to a circular system of food production, recreation, social wellbeing, and cultural and creative exploration.
The first steps have been set by repurposing the existing warehouse, the Armazém building, as a creative hub for working, making, exhibiting, and hosting artist residencies.
On the 20th of September, we had a soft launch, presenting the work of Marion van Leeuwen (paintings), Studio Elmoly (Ceramic light sculptures), László Cseresznyés (3d printing), and Capeta and Mrprieto for the murals. Combined with community events linked tot the opening of different spaces in the village, reactivating the community, and presenting a future vision of Porto Brandão that provides an alternative to the invasive and destructive forces of tourism and foreign investments.

Locally made, coming from a good heart with a creative spirit.
Welcome to FLORAM.

Porto Brandão development

The Universidade Nova de Lisboa presented the Innovation District, a project for creation of a new, modern and sustainable city, between Porto Brandão and Monte da Caparica, in Almada.

The project foresees the construction of a thousand houses for 4500 new inhabitants, 86 thousand square meters of tourism infrastructures, and 17 thousand jobs.

Moreover it will allocate 8500 students, 1500 professors and researchers, and dozens of research centers.

The Innovation District will be designed according to the latest sustainable features, integrating ecological

construction methods and carbon neutral solutions.

Startups, small and medium-sized companies, and multinationals will coexist, creating jobs and generating wealth and inclusivity.
